Dental Development
Twenty primary teeth of your child (baby teeth) are formed primarily during pregnancy. At birth, so they are partially or completely formed and calcified in the gum.
Eruption of teeth
The eruption of teeth begins around the age of six months, sometimes before and sometimes a few months later. This goes unnoticed for some children but for others it causes discomfort, some pain, refusal to eat and sometimes a fever. These symptoms may be accompanied by crying, diarrhea, red spots on the face of a rash or runny nose. During this period, children salivent thoroughly and wear their fists in the mouth. A teething ring or a damp washcloth and fresh may provide relief. A slight circular motion made on the gums with a small brush with soft bristles can help stimulate blood circulation and loosen the gum. Finally, if your baby is suffering too, give acetaminophen or contact Info-Health.
Important:
*Syrups and teething biscuits are not expected calming effect and they contain sugar.
* Gels that numb the gums may be swallowed and cause numbness of the throat or impair swallowing (swallowing reflex) and digestion.
*The raw carrots and celery present risk of choking.
*Health Canada advises parents and guardians and custodians not to use collars sold as may prevent or reduce the pain of the teeth in young children.
