What is periodontal disease?

The disease is a progressive disease of the gums and the dental apparatus base. The gum diseases are the most common cause of premature teeth fall in the population over 40 years. Periodontitis can develop from a non gingivitis or poorly treated. The inflammation extends along the root until the tooth is loads. When gingivitis, the gum is red and slightly inflamed. A visible sign is the frequent bleeding when brushing. When gingivitis is not treated, a periodontitis (disease) develops. Inflammation of the gums extends to the tissues supporting the tooth. Periodontitis, a gum disease sly.A poor oral hygiene, teeth in poor condition, especially inflammation of the gums, are risk factors favoring coronary vascular disease (myocardial infarction), stroke (stroke) and premature birth weight deficit. In the initial stage, the periodontium is painless.
One of his first visible signs - the gum bleeding is often not recognized as a problem. In mild cases of gingivitis (inflammation), the bacteria responsible (spirochaete) form a balance with the endogenous defense system. When the disease progresses and that periodontitis develop, unwanted bacteria take precedence and gum bleeding may occur. Some people even think that gingival bleeding when brushing, show an oral hygiene particularly conscientious.
