What measures should be adopted for maintaining oral health?
For diseases that have been set in the oral cavity, there must be a breaking of balance, either by low salivary flow, or by consumption of food (quality, quantity and frequency) or by a lack of adequate sanitation, which influence in a direct way the quantity and quality of oral microbiota.
Some measures can be taken for maintaining the balance oral, including quotes is:
1. The intake of 8 glasses of 300 ml of water per day, important for maintaining the salivary flow, which has physiological function of cleaning the mouth and, through its buffer capacity, the balance of ph mouth;
2. Avoid food is between meals, because usually these "pinch" are not followed by a proper sanitation, in addition to obstruct restoring a satisfactory pH in the oral cavity, the permanence of food in the mouth and the number of times it is ingested are fundamental to the development of caries; 3. The food quality is very important, the more sticky is the food, the greater the length of his stay in the oral cavity and thus the greater the potential cariogenic (stuffed cookie, caramel candy, etc.). It should be aware, too, for foods that have hidden sugar, such as ketchup. The more fibrous foods promote a greater stimulation of salivary gland, acting in a positive way in the intensity of its flow;
4. The oral hygiene should be done in an appropriate manner, using a toothbrush compatible with your mouth, not much fluoridated toothpaste abrasive and dental floss and cleaner of tongue. The oral mouthrinses should only be used in specific cases to contain, in most cases, alcohol in its composition, which promotes greater desquamation of epithelial cells in the oral cavity leading to halitosis.
