First be sure to inform your dentist about your pregnancy when you make an appointment. Your dental visit should take place between the fourth and sixth month of pregnancy. The first three months are very important for the developing fetus. During the last three months, the stress associated with dental visits can increase the incidence of prenatal complications. X-rays, anesthetics, analgesics and antibiotics (especially tetracycline) are not prescribed during the first three months, unless it is absolutely necessary. During the last three months of pregnancy, it is often uncomfortable to sit for long periods of time in a dental chair. It was also observed that pregnant women are more likely to reflexes nauseous.
